What time does the service start?WFPC's regular Sunday Worship Service starts at 10:30 AM, though many people arrive early to enjoy complimentary coffee and fellowship!
-
Where is the service located?WFPC worships in our main sanctuary located on the second floor of our building. Don't worry if you're not sure where it is; there will be a greeter to help you find your way!
-
What are services like? The typical Traditional Sunday Worship service is about an hour to an hour and a half long. It is a beautifully designed combination of live music (familiar classics to new compositions), Bible-based teaching, hymn singing, and prayers. Holy Communion is also served during worship on the first Sunday of the month, where believers give thanks for God's saving work for his creation and are strengthened in their faith by receiving the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ in bread and grape juice. We invite all to the Lord's table!
-
What should I wear?A lot of us typically wear business casual clothes at our services, although some of us do dress up. Ultimately though, we'd like to think you will be as comfortable in a T-shirt and jeans as you would be in a business suit or dress.
-
Is there someone that can help me when I visit?Absolutely! We know that coming to a new church for the first time can be intimidating. When you come for your visit, there will be a greeter to welcome you and help you settle in. We will do everything we can to make sure you have the best experience possible.
-
What do you offer for children on Sunday morning?Children are a special part of our congregation and we value them as full participants in the life of our church. Sunday School is offered during our Worship Service on an every-other week basis for your littles (ages 4-10) on our 4th floor "Kids' Zone". When Sunday School is not in session, we invite your littles to participate in Worship Service! There are children's activity bags available in the narthex outside the sanctuary which may be brought to their seats. Children and youth are also welcome to participate in worship leadership! Children are welcome to read scripture, lead prayers, sing with the choir (several opportunities through the year), greet people coming in, help host Coffee Hour, and take part in other opportunities as they arise. We hope this will nurture their innate sense of wonder, as they develop a sense of awe and reverence for worship. For the very young, there is a nursery room on the 4th floor for use by parents.
-
What is the Sunday School curriculum?Sunday School usually consists of Bible stories using multi-sensory tools and offers children the opportunity to form responses to the stories out of their own life experiences. Children learn the meaning of church traditions and learn to prepare for participation in the church’s worship practices. They learn to prepare themselves and quiet their minds in order to enter into worship and relationship with God, they learn how to talk with God and they learn stories from the Bible in a way that they can understand.
-
Who goes to your church? We have quite a mixture of people at WFPC. Our congregation truly spans the ages, from newborns to folks in their 80s. You’ll find just about every type of person here – married, single, divorced, widowed – professionals, workers, retired – life-long Cincinnati residents and those who have just recently moved to the Westwood neighborhood. But even more important than the kind of people who go here is the kind of people who are welcome here: everyone!
-
What does "Presbyterian" mean?We are part of the Presbyterian Church (USA), a national denomination. The term Presbyterian comes from the ancient Greek word for “Elder,” which highlights the way decisions are made in our church. Our congregation is governed by Ruling Elders, who are elected by the congregation to make decisions together and lead our congregation. Our Pastor is technically a Teaching Elder, responsible for teaching and caring for the congregation, while our Ruling Elders govern the church and make decisions for the life of the congregation.
-
Is the church building handicap accessible?Yes! There is handicap parking in both of our parking lots. Inside, our main elevator services all floors.

I'm interested in becoming a member. How do I join WFPC?If you are interested in joining WFPC through membership, we would be overjoyed to have you join us! We believe that Westwood First is a wonderful place to worship and serve the Lord, as well as to build relationships with others. To begin the process of making WFPC your church home, contact Pastor Jones at rich@wfpc.org or 513-661-6846.
-
I'm interested in Baptism. What do I need to do?We are so happy that you are thinking about baptism for your child or yourself! When baptizing your child, because the church and the parents make promises in baptism to nurture a child in the faith, the first step is for one or both parents or grandparents to be members of the church. Similarly, if you're thinking about being baptized yourself, you will also need to become a member. You can learn more by contacting Pastor Jones at rich@wfpc.org or 513-661-6846.
