The Mill Creek – Past, Present, and Future
With the Ohio River so close, we tend to discount the significance of the creeks that run through our region. A waterway that is particularly significant for the west side is the Mill Creek. It played a major role in how and when communities grew to the west of the city center since crossing the creek and getting up the western hills posed a challenge. Over time, the creek became an underappreciated asset and became very polluted.
Due to the diligence of many volunteers and organizations, the creek has made a comeback and is even the home of the Mill Creek Yacht Club. Someone from the Mill Creek Alliance will discuss the history of the creek, its state today, and hope for the future.
