Union Baptist Cemetery

Learn about the cemetery on Cleves Warsaw Avenue where you will find the gravesites of an amazing array of African Americans who contributed so much to our society over the past 200 years. Some of the many fascinating people include Thomas Jefferson’s French Chef in the Whitehouse as well as his head blacksmith, a Congressional Medal of Honor winner, a star Negro League Shortstop, a musician who was a pioneer of rock and roll, the first African American principal, and over 120 veterans of the Civil War including members of the Black Brigade.
