Westwood Historical Society

A Treasure Trove: The Cincinnati History Library and Archives

March 13 @ 7:00 pm 9:00 pm

In addition to being home to the Natural History Museum, Children’s Museum, Holocaust Museum, Omnimax Theater, and space for wonderful revolving special exhibits, the Museum Center houses the Cincinnati History Library and Archives on the lower level.  It is an institution that traces its roots back to 1831.  Much of what we know about Westwood’s history was gleaned from the library.

Jill Beitz, Manager of Reference and Research, and Mickey deVise, Reference Librarian, will talk about the history of the library and archives and discuss what is in the collection.  It is one of the most significant regional history collections in the United States.  And it is not just a collection of books.  There are manuscripts, maps, pamphlets, architectural drawings, church histories, business catalogues, newspapers, sheet music, photographs, movies, audio recordings, historic artifacts, fine art, etc., etc.
