How Your Ancestors Died

October 11 @ 7:00 pm 9:00 pm

When Amy Whalen does genealogical research, she finds that digging a little deeper into a simple death notice or a name on a family tree can turn up curiosities and stories of all kinds that beg to be explored. Her research into old news accounts adds details that have gotten lost. Amy skillfully weaves local history into the stories of individuals in a way that is anything but boring.

As an example, she will dive into someone’s life and death that led her to the infamous 1884 courthouse riots in Cincinnati that resulted in a fire which caused the loss of countless valuable records. She has now compiled a list of 200+ names of people who were personally touched by the riots either as victim, rioter, bystander, official, public servant, etc. Come and see if one of your ancestors made the list!
